The data collected in this study includes the community’s image and impressions of St. Joseph’s Home, the challenges and opportunities the home faces, and the likelihood of the philanthropists of Springfield, those previously known and those not-yet-known to us, to embrace our proposed project. The study was remarkably effective in replacing our vague impressions and best-guesses with strategic knowledge on which smart plans can be built. In addition, it has given our various constituencies – Sisters, board, staff, volunteers, residents’ families, and the community at large – a valid, unifying touchstone from which to launch a campaign.
